Forerun Chart with Digital Pen Technology™

Forerun clinical charting applications focus on collecting and presenting clinically useful information first, but also incorporate tools that make meeting billing, medical-legal and quality requirements effortless. Clinicians can chart using a digital pen, voice recognition, dictation, keyboard entry, or tablets and the output is complete, professional and clearly presented. Forerun clinical charting applications offer the right balance between speed and quality, and provide the basis for effective sign-outs, handoffs, and collection of key information for admission, observation or discharge.

Fast, Rich, and Accurate Charting

The Forerun Chart with Digital Pen Technology™ delivers an intuitive and flexible electronic documentation solution to physicians that will not negatively impact their productivity. Using template-driven input where appropriate, but free text input where necessary, the physician may enter data that tells the full clinical story. Smart interfaces with nursing documentation, registration, lab and radiology systems assure that redundant documentation is eliminated. The result is a clinically rich and complete electronic patient record and a concise prose document that enables efficient transfer of clinical information to and from the patient, consultants and PCP.

Bedside Charting with Digital Pen

One of the most exciting developments in physician charting is the Forerun Chart with Digital Pen Technology™. Forerun has developed a paper subset of its electronic chart for use with a digital pen. The form is printed on-demand to a color laser printer loaded with regular paper. Using a digital pen, a physician can mark boxes and write free text on the form. Multiple patients can be visited and charted by switching between paper forms as often as necessary. When finished, the physician docks the pen, and the data collected on the paper form is uploaded to the appropriate Forerun Chart with Digital Pen Technology™ electronic record. The chart is finished at the computer using keyboard/mouse or dictation, signed and sent to the hospital's electronic medical record repository.
