The ED
Dashboard:
·
Is
built using
InterSystems post-relational technology, utilizing both Cache' and
Ensemble in its architecture. This
provides
a technical base that makes it easy to integrate with existing hospital
applications from vendors such as EPIC,
Meditech, McKesson, GE, and many others.
·
Uses
secure web connections for remote monitoring of the
emergency department from anywhere in the ED or in the hospital.
·
Resides
on a central server that integrates with the Hospital Information
System (HIS).
Features
include the following:
·
A
“department view” screen provides information on the
status of the entire ED, helping to improve patient flow and department
management.
·
A “patient view”
screen provides clinicians with quick
access to patient information — such as history, laboratory and
radiology
results — and offers communications with existing hospital information
systems.
·
A
clinical “alerts and reminders” engine is continuously
running in the background of the system, analyzing and flagging
concerns during
each patient’s visit.
·
An
administrative department rules engine allows ED
managers to address departmental problems in a timely manner (e.g.
bottlenecks,
diversions) and report on pay for performance core measures and quality
indicators.
