The
technology behind Forerun was pioneered by doctors who have
extensive experience with emergency-room operations. Dr. John
Halamka, Chief Information Officer of Harvard Medical School, Dr.
Richard
Wolfe, Chair of the Emergency Department at the Beth Israel Deaconess
Medical
Center (BIDMC) and Dr. Larry Nathanson, Director of Emergency Medical
Informatics at the center are the key physicians responsible for making
the ED Dashboard a best in class application at the BIDMC
where it
has enjoyed a six-year optional success record.
Forerun
was established in 2005 as a private health care IT company
with the goal of bringing this best practice solution to market while
continuing to
work with the BIDMC to enhance functionality and improve clinical
workflow.
Through
its evolution at the BIDMC, a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical
School in Boston, and the
targeted roll out to select hospitals,
the ED Dashboard system has advanced into a commercial product.
